1. It all started as a simple idea; The Directors of Venture Banners had decided early on that they only wanted to supply large format print to the Print Trade. They didn’t think that playing both sides of the fence and competing against their own customer base by trying to sell to end users was the right thing to do.

But they also understood that to make that work, they needed to give their Print Trade Customers all of the tools they needed to sell large format print.

They started by making prices only available to logged in customers, alleviating the spectre of end users finding the same prices. Then, by including profit potentials on the product pages of their website, so that trade customers would understand the margins that could be achieved and charge accordingly.

  1. They continued by including unbranded spec sheets and catalogues. And then one day sometime in 2011 the idea was hatched to offer those Print Trade Customers a website. Not a basic white label website that some of the other suppliers were offering, but a full customer branded ecommerce solution with Ventures’ now famous banner price calculator included.
And so VB (Venture Banners in case you hadn’t guessed) Media was born.

Fast forward several years and with the addition of Gavin De Boos into the directorial team, VB Media had become its own entity, separate from Venture Banners with VB Media now able to handle products from any supplier and with the ability to talk to API connected suppliers making it quick and easy to add large format and small format products to your own ecommerce website.

  1. And going forward, there’s lots more to come. It is our vision to become a completely supplier agnostic platform with multiple suppliers offering print products from every corner of the print world.

A new version of VB Media is due to be launched later in 2021, giving greater control of page layout and making the sites look less ‘templatey’ which is a small but valid criticism if we’re all honest with each other.

  1. There are also a host of other improvements and additional functionality in the development diary with users actively encouraged to suggest future features. With 300 current users VB Media is already at the forefront of offering the Print Trade an affordable web to print solution, but be assured we’re not resting on our laurels, there are exciting things in the pipeline.
